Unlock the Power of Curcumin

with Theracurmin®

  • Turmeric: Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Science

Turmeric is the vibrant golden spice in the ginger family. Its therapeutic history dates back nearly 4,000 years and is deeply rooted in traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Turmeric remains popular today, and thousands of scientific papers now focus on curcumin, the component of turmeric responsible for its health benefits. [1]

  • The Golden History and Health Benefits of Curcumin

Curcumin is the active compound in turmeric that delivers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits! Extensive research highlights curcumin’s ability to support a healthy inflammatory response, help relieve joint pain associated with osteoarthritis, and protect against daily oxidative stress.[2] However, because of traditional curcumin’s low bioavailability, the body’s ability to absorb and utilize it can be limited.[3]

  • Theracurmin: Revolutionizing Curcumin Absorption

Theracurmin was created using state-of-the-art technology to overcome the poor absorption of standard curcumin.[4] Curcumin is micronized down to tiny particles, making it an optimum size to pass through the intestinal wall and into the bloodstream efficiently. Theracurmin is the number one absorbed form of curcumin [‡] and clinical research confirms Theracurmin’s impressive anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions.[5]

Curcumin vs. Theracurmin

Unlike regular curcumin, the advanced absorption technology of CurcuminRich Theracurmin by Natural Factors enables rapid distribution of curcumin particles in the body. This results in improved absorption and significantly higher bioavailability.

When it comes to curcumin, it's not how much you take, it’s how much you absorb

You Can Trust CurcuminRich Theracurmin

ISURA® testing is key for curcumin products. Curcumin is extracted from turmeric roots, and compared to the above-ground parts of plants, roots are more likely to absorb contaminants from the soil.  ISURA screens for over 800 contaminants, including pesticides used worldwide, ensuring they stay within strict safety limits.

Using certain solvents, like some potentially carcinogenic chlorinated solvents, can significantly increase the amount of curcumin extracted. ISURA carefully checks for any solvent residues in the raw material. By screening for both pesticides and solvent residues, ISURA ensures that CurcuminRich™ Theracurmin is one of the safest curcumin products available.

Frequently asked questions

Theracurmin is an advanced curcumin preparation designed for maximum bioavailability. Detailed absorption studies have shown that it is the best-absorbed form of curcumin on the market.[‡]

The average curcumin particle size in Theracurmin is 0.19 µm, over 100 times smaller than curcumin powder, with an average particle size of 22.75 µm. These microscopic particles are obtained by mixing curcumin powder with all-natural emulsifiers, including gum from the Indian Ghati tree. This mixture is then ground by a wet grinding mill.

To make the curcumin water soluble, it is dispersed evenly through the emulsifiers by homogenization, creating a colloidal suspension that is easily absorbed by the digestive tract. The result is a dramatic increase in the level of curcumin measured in the bloodstream.

Theracurmin has also had more double-blind clinical trials than any other curcumin product.

The amount of curcumin on the CurcuminRich Theracurmin label can’t be directly compared to the amount in other brands of turmeric curcumin or regular turmeric curcumin powder. That’s because the curcumin in Theracurmin has been optimized for absorption.

To illustrate, think of comparing gemstones. A small, high-quality diamond can be far more valuable than a larger, lower-quality stone. Similarly, while the double-strength Theracurmin label only states 60 mg of curcumin per capsule, the high bioavailability from the small particle size results in appreciable absorption and blood levels that are simply not possible with regular curcumin powder. The much higher absorption is why it isn’t possible to make a direct “apples-to-apples” comparison between the curcumin content in Theracurmin and regular curcumin powder.

We don’t use black pepper, piperine, or BioPerine® in Theracurmin products because it’s not necessary. Our CurcuminRich Theracurmin offers superior absorption compared to regular curcumin, ensuring you get the most out of each dose.

While it is true that crude turmeric spice powder may contain significant amounts of naturally occurring oxalates, Natural Factors CurcuminRich Theracurmin is a purified substance that has insignificant levels in a daily serving. The oxalate level is about 0.03–0.04%, which means in a 30 mg capsule, you will consume under 0.12 mg; in a 60 mg capsule, you will consume under 0.24 mg. By comparison, one half-cup of cooked spinach contains 755 mg of oxalates.

The curcumin used in our CurcuminRich is sourced from Japan and is formulated and manufactured in Canada.

Yes, all Natural Factors products, including our CurcuminRich Theracurmin products, undergo comprehensive testing. This includes rigorous checks for potency and purity, ensuring our products are free of heavy metals and chemical contaminants, including lead.

Our testing protocols are in strict compliance with the guidelines set by Health Canada’s Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD), following standards such as those outlined in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). Additionally, our products are manufactured following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Our products are also subject to third-party testing and certification by ISURA, an independent analytical testing centre specializing in natural health products.

The total bioavailability of Theracurmin was found to be more than 40 times higher than that of curcumin powder.[6]

Natural Factors Theracurmin does not use nanotechnology. Nanoparticles are not used in Natural Factors products.

Compared to the aerial parts of plants, roots are more subject to the bioaccumulation of contaminants in the soil. As curcumin is extracted from turmeric tubers typically grown in Asia, ISURA's screening for more than 800 contaminants even covers pesticides that may be used across the world, monitoring them and keeping them within strict limits. ISURA goes beyond Canadian Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.Additionally, the use of less desirable solvents (such as certain potentially carcinogenic chlorinated solvents) can significantly increase the yield of curcumin during the extraction process. ISURA actively checks the presence of any solvent residues in the raw material. Joint screening for pesticide and solvent residues ensures that Theracurmin from the CurcuminRich range is the safest curcumin product available.

Theracurmin has close to no taste or smell when taken on its own.
